Accessing Windows files...

I am running Redhat 8.0. I have successfully used the mount smbfs command to acess my documents folder on the Windows NT server. I can read the files but cannot change them or write new files to the folder. I am using the same user name and password on both systems.  Can anybody give me a direction to go?   Thanks
