With a typical RH8 install you should have all that you need to print to the
remote printer. To start things off you need to make sure that the printer
is shared on the WinNT workstation and that Everyone or Guest has access to
the printer.

Then on the Linux workstation, from the command line, run "printtool".
This is a nice little util that help setup the necessary remote queue. The
printtool menus are pretty much self explanatory, though you need to note a
few things. You want to chose the "Windows SMB" printer option. You'll
need to know the exact make and model of your printer. And when it asks for
the remote share name you must include the full UNC path (e.g.
\\winwks\printer). You may also be required to enter the IP address of the
NT workstation, I'm not sure if this is necessary so you may want to leave
it out the first time through.

Also if you don't think the queue was created correctly it is often better
to delete the queue and add it back with the correct values. I had trouble
just updating the existing queue on my Linux install.

Subject: Connect to printer on a Windows server.

I'm using RedHat Linux 8.0 on my notebook. And I want to print out to the
printer that connect to a Windows NT workstation, which is on the same LAN
with my notebook.

What do I need to do (and prepare) in order to do that?

Thanks for any help.
