Hi. I have two questions after a week of beating my head against the kernel source files. I have a Toshiba laptop and just installed RH8. I am loving it, except for the boot times. I really want power management - suspend, fan control, etc - and I need to add "Toshiba Laptop Support" to the kernel (its not in there by default. I can not, for the life of me, get a new kernel to work. I can get the laptop to boot off of my new kernel, but it still claims that laptop support is not enabled in the kernel. Also tons of error messages fly up the screen with modules and such as the RedHad startup scripts run.
Is there an easy way with SRPMs or RPMs to configure kernel options? Since I have convinced myself that I am incompetent at configuring a working kernel, is there a way I can grab the configuration that RH8 install used, change _just_ the Toshiba Laptop Support option, and recompile it? Using a source tarball is fine w/ me as long as I can start from RH8's default configuration. Question #2: Has anyone had success getting a Sony Clie S360 USB-connecting Visor to work with Linux and the palm program integrated into Evolution? Any help much appreciated.
