Raymond, - please read the documentation at http://www.tldp.org, or do a search on Google at http://www.google.com. Most of the answers can be found there. Tackle one problem at a time, and don't flood the list too much. All the types of questions you ask have already been answered a few times. The archives may also be of some assistance. Once you've tried something, and really can't get it to work, come back and we will help you out. Always detail what you have tried. At this point, telling us what you're problems are without telling us what you've done to rectify them doesn't help much. For example, your ADSL problem can be because your Ethernet card isn't loading properly, the settings are incorrect, it isn't talking to the modem, your dial-up setting are incorrect, you don't have the relevant ppp installed for TCP/IP packet transmission, do you have a static address or a dynamic one the list goes on. There's an ADSL-HOWTO at the above documentation link I gave you which will probably set you up step by step.
