Ok I did that and it showed me where all the files where install.  I did
the following below.  Did it install in the wrong place ?

[root@vh1 scott]# /usr/bin/mysql status
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket 
'/var/lib/mysql/m
ysql.sock' (111)
[root@vh1 scott]#
