hostname is a command, or vi /etc/sysconfig/network and set
HOSTNAME=yourhostname

I have tried the hostname command--it works but when I restart the hostname goes back to the wrong one. also, under /etc/sysconfig/network HOSTNAME is set to localhost.localdomain but the problem remains. is there any other way to fix this? ..damn..
