I am using RedHat 8 and writing to report three basic GNOME interface problems to which I can find no solution.

Problem 1:
I have customized my GNOME Menu to try to remove all menu items from the Extras folder. I have done this by individually editing the .desktop files for these menu items. All of the Extras submenus have disappeared except for Preferences. This menu is empty yet remains. As you can see from this <a href="http://syrinx.nyip.net/~erik/shot1.png";>screenshot</a>, the Extras and Extras > Preferences menus are useless and ugly. How do I get rid of these menus?

Problem 2:
As you can see from this <a href="http://syrinx.nyip.net/~erik/shot2.png";>screenshot</a>, the Accessories applet menu does not read the redhat-accessories.png icon (from /usr/share/pixmaps/) that is read by the Accessories base menu. How do I get the menu to read this icon?

Problem 3:
I have a number of drawers on a floating panel. Every time I log out (or restart gnome-panel) the icons in these drawers reverse order. See the shots for <a href="http://syrinx.nyip.net/~erik/shot3.png";>before</a> and <a href="http://syrinx.nyip.net/~erik/shot4.png";>after</a>. I can always xkill my panel to force the icons to reverse again, back to their original order, but this is annoying. How do I stop my drawer icons from reversing?

Please help,
Erik

PS: I also want to express my general disappointment with Bluecurve. I think it is ugly, particularly compared to the beautiful photo-realistic icons and window borders of Mac OS X. I have spent a great deal of time customizing my system to get rid of the Bluecurve look and feel (and I know Linux is all about customizability) but I wish the default interface was aesthetically tolerable (even Windows looks better). In fact, I find the Bluecurve icon set so repulsive, it makes me hesitant to suggest RedHat to my friends. It's just my opinion but I though you might want to know.
