This stuff looks really confusing. Has anyone here done this before?

I'm tempted to yank out my 120gig out of my external case and put it
into the computer replacing a 40gig I have. I could then take the 40gig
and put it in the external case for Windows and remote storage (when my
friends have some ripped DVD's that I want, I bring it over and copy it
from their computer onto the external hard drive). I could then just
copy the stuff over with Window$ and then go back to my beloved Linux.

Thanks for the info, it's truly appreciated.
