I recently installed RH 7.3, with GNOME. When I log in as a user, I get the GNOME panel at the bottom. When I log in as root, I do not. I have to right-click on the desktop and bring up a terminal window, then type "panel" to get the dang thing to come up. It's not a case of the panel being hidden; it just doesn't start. Any ideas?
