Hi!

I'm german and so I use german special charaters instead of ae, oe, ue and
ss.
Like ä, ö, ü and ß.

I use my RH7.3 linux server as a samba file server, too.
If I save a file with a file name with geman spezial characters in a samba
directory, in the (Windows)explorer the file names are right.
But, if I have a look in the samba directory from linux console or kdm in
kde the german special characters in the filenames are shown wrong.

My linux server is prepared for german font.
If I write german characters direct in linux console, the german characters
are right.

So what have I to do, that file names in linux samba directory which are
stored from Windows, will be shown exactly like in the (Windows) explorer.

Background:
The linux server does automatic backups from linux samba directories on CD.
This CD should be read direktly in a CDROM of a Windows-Client.
But in this case the filenames with the german characters are shown wrong.

Can anybody give me a tip?

Michael

(Hope you understand my english) ;-)
