 If you still have a graphical screensaver running, then somehow you
haven't disabled it completely. In KDE, check in
$HOME/KDE/share/config/kcmdisplayrc. Look in the [screensaver]
section. It should read:
  
  Saver=No screensaver

  You may also have the console "screen blanker" running. This is the
non-X screensaver. In an xterm do:

                       setterm -blank

See 'man setterm' for the details.
  Also, make sure that your computer CMOS doesn't have some  'Green"
or powersaving setting to enable monitor shutdown. You may also try
turning off APM (power management) features in the CMOS; also as a
Service in linux - if it is active. To see, in an xterm type:

    setup 

select 'system services' and make sure that APM is not selected.
