I'm just getting up to speed with the thread. Not sure why you are having difficulty. I'm running RedHat 7.3 with Samba (I have several shares setup). It was easy to access the SAMBA shares from my XP Pro workstation.
I have a small network at home in which 95-XP systems access my SAMBA shares all the time. I had to setup an account with SMBPASSWD on the Linux box before XP would connect. I'll look at how I setup my smb.conf. I may have set it up as SHARE security. Will check. You might want to try messing with that a bit. Oh and I did notice something really strange about XP. I'm running a firewall on the SAMBA system (it's a habit). I basically block everything cept for a few ports (such as 445, 137, 138 and so on). I noticed that XP for some reason is trying to connect to the box on port 80 whenever I try to browse the filesystem with explorer. Makes no sense. I have it blocking port 80 (since I don't use it) and logging the activity to my messages log. -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
