Hi, This is my first post to the list.
A client of ours has a HP Netserver E50 running RH 6.1. There server is an open relay. I have looked on the web, and I have noticed that the best way to fix the problem is to upgrade the O/S to a new version, however is there anything one can do to stop the server from being an open relay without a major upgrade of the O/S. The have sendmail-8.9.3-15 installed. I'm alarmed that their /etc/access file is like the following # Check the /usr/doc/sendmail-8.9.3/README.cf file for a description # of the format of this file. (search for access_db in that file) # The /usr/doc/sendmail-8.9.3/README.cf is part of the sendmail-doc # package. # # by default we allow relaying from localhost... localhost.localdomain RELAY localhost RELAY 127.0.0.1 RELAY Is the above the problem? - How can I fix it?
