This is simple enough that you don't need a script. A pair of entries in /etc/crontab will do what you need: 30 08 * * 1-5 root service sendmail start 30 17 * * 1-5 root service sendmail stop The format of the crontab file is described in crontab(5): man 5 crontab Tony - -- Anthony E.
