And *that* gets you lots of points - that you *want* to learn, and are 
willing to try....

So, the first question of any sysadmin: you say "KDE won't load". What do you 
mean? 
   - Does X not start?  
   - Do you get a graphic screen, but no window manager? 
   - What error messages do you get? 
   -  Does it say anything in /var/log/messages?

It's not a turn-on-the-tv set problem, we need more details to get a clue.
