Hello,
I'm quite new with Linux environment and I hope someone can help me with the problem I'm facing. I've installed RH 7.2 on my laptop (Toshiba Tecra 8000). I have to say that during the installation everything went fine, but when I had to install the ethernet card, installation process just skipped that phase. Then, I tried to configure it manually from the GUI control panel, but my card (Xircom CE3-10/100 Fast Ethernet) does not appear in the list. In var/log/messages I can see that cardmgr starts properly, but I get the error cardmgr[799]: config error, file './config.opts' line 8: no function bindings: Aug 29 23:05:10 localhost cardmgr[799]: starting, version is 3.1.22 Aug 29 23:05:10 localhost rc: Starting pcmcia: succeeded Aug 29 23:05:11 localhost cardmgr[799]: config error, file './config.opts' line 8: no function bindings Aug 29 23:05:11 localhost cardmgr[799]: watching 2 sockets Aug 29 23:05:11 localhost kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: clean. Anyway, in the log later on I see that the card seems to be recognized correctly; irq=3, which is consistent to the entry in config.opts file: .... In the PCMCIA Card Configuration Database (/etc/pcmcia/config) I also can see the card. Finally, the file pcmcia was originally like the following: PCMCIA=yes PCIC=yenta_socket PCIC_OPTS= CORE_OPTS= then I changed to: PCMCIA=yes PCIC=i82365 PCIC_OPTS= CORE_OPTS= and finally to: PCMCIA=yes PCIC=tcic PCIC_OPTS= CORE_OPTS= but the behavior is always the same; I really don't know what else I can do; when I query the cardmgr daemon it says that the cards (I have also a modem card not recognized, but this is another problem) are up and running and when I make a hot plug-in of the cards I can ear double beep. Any suggestions?
