OK, I've just got to say something and I hate the fact that I am able to say
it. Something has changed with the install process of RH73 and it is
cutting out a large percentage systems. I'm not sure of where to begin, but
lets just say that I'm trying to upgrade my RH72, RH71, and RH62 systems to
RH73.

I started off with the with an HP Pavilion 7364 to test out a non production
system upgrade. This systems happens to have MS ME and RH72 installed and
working. The system will not upgrade because it does not see any Linux
partitions when I select the Next button when I have selected "Upgrade a
currently installed system". I've tried everything that people have
suggested to no avail. I can go out to the command prompt and create a dev
that points to hda and then mount the dev, but the install will delete it
and then not find it on it's own. Great just great. Outcome: No upgrade
preformed.

The next system I tried was a HP Pavilion 6350 (which has been updated to
run more as a server i.e. better cooling, bigger heatsinks, max RAM, and
large HD). This system had RH72 running. This system upgraded without a
problem. Outcome: System upgraded.

The next system was an HP OmniBook 5700ct laptop. The system was running
RH72. The system would not boot into the install because it was halting
during partition check because of a dma timeout (or actually no timeout).
Help from this list and RH support could not give me a solution to this.
After weeks of trying different options and looking trough source. Finally
found a way to disable dma correctly to allow the install process to
continue. Outcome: System upgraded.

The next system was a HP Vecta 486/50 (which has been upgraded with an AMD
cpu which gives 100MHz, Max RAM to 64MB, large HD, and a 1GHB Jaz) running
RH72. System acts fine dns server. The system wont start the install
program. I tried every command line option, but it stops at the same spot.
After hitting enter at the welcome screen (or any other option) the system
loads and gets to the point:
  running install...
  running /sbin/loader
Install exited abnormally -- received signal 11
Which then goes to a line that says "you man safely reboot your system".
Great signal 11... bad hardware frigging wonderful! Booting off a RH72
floppy with the RH 73 CD goes into the install (of course I didn't
continue). Hmm... Outcome: No upgrade preformed.

At this point I'm not feeling good about doing the rest of our systems. The
amazing thing here is that this is not how the RH72 upgrade went. Some
things have changed and are creating a group of systems that wont upgrade.
IMHO this is not a good course.
