This is not a problem report, but just a note on something positive I have discovered. Please note I am not affiliated in anyway to Codeweavers, this is just an unsolicted testimonial
I have seen in this list a lot of people asking questions about living in offices in the Windows world, and the problems they have with the Office formatted documents. So I would like to share something. I was recently told by my company that I either had to find a way of sending and viewing documents that were 'Standard' format or I would have to blow away my laptop and install Windoze. So I downloaded and installed Codeweavers Crossover for Windows. This is an emulator (as far as I can see) for the MS Office environment and unfortunatly costs money. However I figured the $60+ was worth it to retain my Linux desktop. The install was 7Mb long, and once installed I then had to use the Office2000 cd to install the packages. The install was very painless, and the setup routine for Office was quick and informative. Now I am running MS Office 2000 Word and Excel on my laptop and I have to say that they seem to be running quicker than on my colleagues similar (Dell Latitude 400Mhz 128MbRam) machines. This is purely subjective, as I havent yet done any performance checks. So, for all those out there in a similar position, have a look at Crossover, it works fine. p.s A byproduct is that I got Internet Explorer installed which now means my good lady can now play games on MSN.com which keeps her happy to, well worth $60 ;) pps, if only I can get the company to update to Exchange 2000 then I will evaluate the Evolution plugin as well Spec Redhat 7.2 Kernel 2.4.9-34 Dell Latitude CPi 12Gb Hard Drive 128Mb Ram all the latest updates -- Alan Harding +44 (0)7715 539272 "One by one the penguins are stealing my sanity" _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
