I upgraded my processor from a Celeron 433 to a
Celeron 1Gb, & I now have 2 problems which may or may not be related
(!)
1. Using Vi, data sometimes just
stops displaying halfway down the screen, i.e. leaves the bottom part of
the screen blank. Then perhaps 10-20 seconds later, the rest of it
appears.
2. It hangs completely.
These problems don't occur very frequently, but the
second is obviously more of a nuisance.
The first looks like an X or video card problem.
The machine is dual-boot with Windows 95, & I haven't had any problems with
Windows.
The card is an S3 Trio 3D/2X 362/368, & I'm
using the generic SVGA X driver.
I guess you're going to tell me to upgrade to 7 for
a start!
