Hi all!
I have installed redhat 7.3 (2.4.18-3) on a compact flash
(256MB) ... which is the primary master ... linux is not able to access
the primary slave ... irrespective of whether it is a hard drive or cdrom
... the bios detects it properly though ...
To check if there is something wrong with my installation on the
flash ... I installed the same distribution on a normal hard drive and
eveything is working alright ...
Also, if the second cdrom or hardrive is connected on the secondary ide ..
it works fine ... now the problem is ... the machine I have to use it on
... only has one ide ... and I have to boot it with flash ... and access
the secong hard drive ...
I dont know if this a problem with the IDE adapter I am using for the
flash ... or linux ... or something in between ... I have double checked
the jumper settings on the IDE adapter and the second hard drive ...
I would appreciate any suggestions, comments, links ... let me know if
you need any other details ...
