I suggest you check out mailscanner.  It is a free application that can be
installed via rpm and needs no modifications to sendmail at all. 
mailscanner supports several commercial virus engines including McAfee,
Sophos, F-Prot, etc.  It also works well with spamassassin.

Do a search for mailscanner on freshmeat.
