I have just set up SAMBA as a domain Controller for my network, but when I
set my machine to the Domain name it tells me a domain controller was not
available. I have RH 7.3 and the firewall is set to high with default
settings, could this be part of the problem? Also, my DNS server is run by
the university and not on my local network, another possible problem? One
more thing, as of now our DNS is not active because we are in the process of
switching to our own network (instead of piggy backing another dept.) and
the dns manager for the university said that if we went active with our dns
right now we would not be able to see our website or something along those
lines. i am pretty confident that SAMBA is properly configured, but I need
some help on where to go from here. Could any of these previously mentioned
things be responsible for my troubles? Please help! Thanks in advance.
