This often solves problems with library version mismatches, etc, and is just a good way to install 'foreign' rpms. I have also *never* had a serious problem upgrading RH from 5.0 -> 7.3, so this is news to me how really lucky I've been. Dodging the bullet with style :) I thank him for pointing out my good fortune.
