Hi,

We have some employees who work from their home office. They're all using
some version of Windows.
At the moment they're connecting to our network using their dial-up
connection and PC-Anywhere.
We are looking for a new way to do this.

I want to put a linux box in place, with a dial-up connection, and install
VNC or SSH on the linux box, and let the
Home workers dial in to that box. I've tried using OpenSSH, but that only
gives me a remote console, not an X11 environment.
Then I tried VNC, and that worked quite nice.

My problem is the following: When I want to use VNC for the connections, the
modem in the Linux box should always be
Connected to the Internet, otherwise it won't know if someone tries to dial
in. However, my boss isn't too happy about this box
Always being connected, due to the phone costs.
Does anyone know of a way to let VNC (or some other program) to just sit and
wait for a connection, until someone calls it?
This method is standard in PC-Anywhere, where the server just waits for a
connection, and then dials the user back.

Thanks
