Hi everybody,

I am having some difficulties with the configuration of CUPS. As I
understand, from reading the administrator's manual, cups should be open
to remote requests, but so far I have to conclude that it isn't.

So far I did the following: installed a local printer, local printing
works great. Have a remote machine, on which I have LPRng running and
configured a printer there that points back to my printer server. Now,
whenever I type lpq I get "Printer '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' - cannot open
connection - Connection refused".

I played around with the <Location>/Allow options in cups.conf, but I
don't know which Location I have to change. I tried /jobs and /printers,
but neither one of them helped much. Then I portscanned my printer server
from the remote machine and noticed that the printer port is listed as
closed. There is however a port called cups, which is open.

I also used tcpdump and checked what kind of traffic lpq generates between
my printer server and the remote machine, and it looks like as if the
remote machine is trying to connect to the printer port on my printer
server.

Shouldn't there be a printer port on my server?

I am a little at a loss here right now, has somebody on this list dealt
with this problem before and could tell me what I am doing wrong?

        Thanks already, nick
