This problem is not restricted to RH 7.3. I have RH 7.2 machines exhibiting the same behaviour. Started happening after the last kernel upgrade. I'll have to try turning apm off.

However, after pulling the keyboard out, and checking it to boot w/o keyboard, it hung after the message regarding init of APM service. Plugging in the keyboard allows the boot process to work just fine. I followed up by testing an upgraded kernel (2.4.18-4), as well as updating the BIOS on the motherboard to the latest (release 8) Neither option helped. I then added the option to the kernel boot line in grub (apm=off) and viola, the kernel boots now without any problems when the keyboard is unplugged. This might / probably has something to do with apm/acpi I have a hunch.
