Hal, I do not see any information suggesting that alternatives is part of cups and on rpmfind.net it is not listed as part of the package. The version for connectiva linux that is available on rpmfind.net does not seem to satisfy the requirements of cups 1.1.14-15 that is part of rh 7.3 [valhalla]. The problem is that cups will not install without alternatives.
