dmesg | grep -i zip What device does it tell you? It might not be hdd for you - hdd means that it's the slave on the 2nd IDE bus. It could be hdb or hdc depending on how you've cabled it (assuming you've got an internal IDE zip that is - I don't know anything about the parallel port of SCSI zip drives). Lilo is a boot loader and has absolutely nothing to do with it.
