One thing to check is to make sure you've got the proper links in httpd.conf. I have no idea if Apache 2.0.x makes a difference, but I did think I heard that Python had issues unless you also upgraded to Python 4.2.0. You're combining bleeding edge with production code, and you may be shooting yourself in the foot. Why did you install Apache 2.0.35? Unless you really have a good reason to play with the newest releases, you should always stick to tried and proven packages.
