Hello Cesar, Wednesday, May 1, 2002, 9:31:32 AM, you textually orated:
CM> Hello everyone: CM> Suppose I run a program under the bash shell from the CM> console in KDE or GNOME using a command like this CM> $ kedit prog1.c & CM> If I kill the console (using the mouse) from which I issue CM> that command, the process "kedit" also gets killed!!!). CM> However, if I do the same using the csh shell, I do not CM> have that problem. (the console is killed but not the CM> process "kedit"). CM> Why the bash shell cannot keep that process running? At least in KDE you can save yourself from worrying about this at all. Hit Alt-F2 and you get a run dialog. Type your command in and hit enter. It has to be one of the handiest things about KDE. (Note: If Gnome has a similar feature I am not aware of it.) It also has a history of commands you've entered, so you can just use a pulldown for previous commands. Have fun, -- _________________________________________________________________ Brian Ashe CTO [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dee-Web Software Services, LLC. http://www.dee-web.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
