a customer has a win2k laptop (compaq 1700-365 or something like that)
that connected just fine to redhat7.1, but after we upgraded them to
7.2, it complains "network cable unplugged".

of course, compaq just drones "we don't support linux".

i found a microsoft support page that tells how to edit the registry to
'disable media sense' to avoid the 'network cable unplugged' problem,
but it didn't help.

since their page suggested something about dhcp, we gave the laptop a
fixed ip address. didn't help.

we tried connecting the win2k laptop peer to peer with a winNT laptop.
that works. it just doesn't like redhat7.2.

any ideas, anyone?
