The Athlon kernel is optimized for the Athlon CPU. If your main board is compliant with the specs, this is a win. If it isn't, well, then it'll be a less than happy experience. That said, I'm using the Athlon kernel here with a XP-1600 on a Asus A7V266 main board. Works wonderfully, I've had no problems at all. > What disadvantages do I get if I do NOT use it and stick with the > standard kernel??? You don't get to find out if your main board is compliant, for one. :) - -- - -Michael pgp key: http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/gpgkey.txt Red Hat Linux 7.2 in 8M of RAM: http://www.rule-project.org/ - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAjzOGD4ACgkQn/07WoAb/Sv1cgCgj7Zc/RccfSgvc9ZDAUqhuSDg v/QAn2Ie2UzqPt1e1qrec4I5z0WqqA2o =Hr8T -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
