I guess it depends on how you define expensive. I see that PCI SCSI cards are pretty cheap on ebay. I've bought an used Adaptec for $25 in the past, and there are SCSI cards bidding for under $20 right now.

Am I out of luck when my boss looked into a pci scsi card they were expensive (why I have the scanner) so I can't see getting a different card for a 10 year old scanner.
