I've had a few problems with Netscape but they've never "crashed" my system ... that sounds like another problem elsewhere that Netscape is triggering (perhaps a problem with sound or the X server ...). Are you able to connect to the system from elsewhere (via telnet or ssh) to see if it's just that the X server / graphics card that has locked up? I've seen a few cases where the X server seemed to freeze but the system was still running underneath, so to speak. Another possibility is a conflict between a sound card and graphics card, e.g. SB Live! plus high performance AGP cards has been a known issue in the past. > where's the best place to try and trace crashes? > > i suppose i should upgrade my version of netscape. i did once to 6.x, i think > it was. or maybe 5.x. i couldn't tolerate the newer netscape. no more > <alt><o> or <ctrl><o> for paste and go? i can't live without that. i know > this is kind of off the subject. but does anyone know if the newer netscapes > can be configured in an X-friendly manner (i.e., you highlight a URL in > a file or email, <alt><o>, <clear>, <paste>, repeat)? I preferred Alt+<whatever> as I tend to put my thumb on the Alt key, and putting my thumb on Ctrl is painful an I have to use my little finger instead ... my little fingers are very short and weak (annoying as I used to play guitar, I'd have been better off as a harpist). I cheat; I just open a new window and paste into the location box with the middle mouse button, then hit Return. > thanks. > > --fred _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
