I deleted all the imwheel files and made all the changes you suggested:

in the /etc/sysconfig/gpm file I appended the options specified into the
"options" section.

My XF86Config file was already setup correctly. I restated X and the wheel mouse
is working correctly in everything that I use regularly.

Question, if it works just like that, why does Mandrake still use imwheel?
