My experience with an USB printer under Linux is that things worked well, especially with later distributions, but that Linux didn't like the printer being turned off and back on again. There would be an error about the printer not accepting the new address, and the only way I could fix it was to reboot the Linux system.
This was a problem for me because I serve my other 2 PCs with my Linux system, and therefore want to leave it on all the time. If I regularly shutdown the Linux problem, there wouldn't have been a problem. (In my case, I also had a parallel only printer attached. I only recently got an used printer server box, so I moved the printer there). -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Michael George Sent: Wednesday, April 03, 2002 8:01 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Printer interface I have a printer (Brother 1250) which has both a parallel and USB interface on the back of it. I currently have it connected to my RHL 7.2 box through the parallel part, but I'm wondering if there would be any advantage to connecting through the USB connector. I'm guessing not but I thought I'd ask anyway.
