Finally got through the dependency issues by installing the rpm updates
first.

However, I tried to install the kernel updates after everything else and
I go this on the kernel.
 [root@mchn3 /etc]# up2date --update
kernel
 kernel-2.4.9-31.i386.rpm: ##########################

 [root@mchn3
/etc]#

Aanyone experienced this before??

But...

When I erase the bad kernel update "rpm -e kernel" I get this.

[root@mchn3 updates]# rpm -e
