As mentioned elsewhere, a good way to do a wholesale "improvement" like this is actually to put the original CD in and try to do an "upgrade" ... I suspect this may not work so well after a number of errata have been applied though. Good choices for packages to start the ball rolling (i.e. which will help you start finding the dependencies) would be control-center, or gnome-core. You'll also need to pick out the applications you want to have available e.g Gnumeric or whatever. Start by trying something like "rpm -Uvh gnome-core-*" and then for each dependency that's reported, add the missing packages until you find a set that will install without error. > PS* If i could get pointed toward a DOC of some kind for up2date, perhaps with >instructions on installing Gnome, KDE and the other major installs you can choose >from the install CD, all using up2date... up2date should do this and in fact might be a better bet, if you have a fast Internet connection. I believe there is a way to point up2date at a "spool" directory with the packages in, but I'll leave details to be filled in by someone who knows how to do it :o) > Jim. _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
