Actually, 4.11 (and I believe 4.2) won't use TCP/IP at all for communication with the server itself. It will act as a router for TCP/IP packets, but you can't connect to the file server itself through TCP/IP. When they moved to 5.0 and up they allow you to connect to the server through TCP/IP. Maybe that's what's going on here.
