You'd have to install POP3 and/or IMAP, anyhow. Sendmail is an SMTP server, only.
There really isn't much you have to do to configure POP3 and/or IMAP using the uw-imap server that came with your redhat installation, and it's not dependant on what SMTP daemon you're running.
