i downloaded what you've said but this what happened:
[root@ns2 maynard]# rpm -Uvh rpm-4.0.2-6x.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
libdb-3.1.so is needed by rpm-4.0.2-6x
[root@ns2 maynard]#
