A workaround that works for me and another guy I told about it, and it
works for a similar problem I had with gnome, too.

Turn off the kde screensavers. Then run xscreensaver in the startup
(.xsession or .xinitrc). Use that. It has mostly the same ones. They
look slightly different on some, but they work just as well. Even the GL
stuff. Plus, for me, it was easier because I can manually add picture
slideshows and other things to it.

I even had one awhile back calling the kde screensavers as well,
basically adding about 1/3 more and getting the kde look, too. And, the
ones giving problems in kde no longer gave me any problems.
