Sorry if this is a re-post, the last post I sent on this subject went into a rh mailing list "blackhole."
My rpm database is corrupt and I've tried both the "rpm --rebuilddb," and the "rpm --initdb" and neither works. When I try to install and rpm, do a rpm -qa, or rpm -Va, I get a segmentation fault and the screen spews around 5 "damaged package" headers. This started appearing after I *tried" to installe the latest RH 7.2 errata for the new KDE libs, from the RH support site, and the installe attempt barfed somewhere around the libxml2 libraries during the install. How in the heck can I fix this problem, I have searhed the archives and found little information of usefulness on this problem. As always, help is most appreciated and very welcome 8-) I really don't want to do a complete re-install. I've been running *most* rpms since RH beagn the concept and have never experienced this before.
