If you do "ps -ef | grep crond" do you see crond running? When you updated your crontab files, did you use the crontab command (crontab -e) so that the crond daemon would be notified of the change? Do you have a /etc/cron.allow or /etc/cron.deny file? If so, read the man page for the crontab command to see how these are used. Those are my only suggestions - good luck!
