hello pps

I have installed RH 7.1 in two different machines. Both with the same
kernel's vercion and almost the same software installed

The first machine with:
MODEL: "Acer power 4100 with a chipset INTEL"
HDD: "FUJITSU MPG3204AT E" and only can make UDMA 33
CPU: "Intel Pentium II (Deschutes)" AT 233 MHz
MEM: 128 MB at 133 MGz, but chipset just assume until 100 MGz

The second machine with:
MODEL: "Acer S series " assembled with chipset SIS 630
HDD: "Maxtor 2B020H1" AND MAKE UDMA 66 with cable 80 lines
CPU: "Intel Pentium III (Coppermine)" AT 866 MHz
MEM: 256 MB at 133 and the chipset support that

I have noted the first is more faster than the second !!!!
The squid is working better, ftpd transfer files better !!!! in fact that
is better !!! HOW IS POSSIBLE ???

I re installed both thinking in some errors's software, but nothing, after
that I got same result.
I decided run a test with hdparam to see how effective are working both HDD
and see:

machine 1 , HDD FUJITSU
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.88 seconds = 68.09 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 8.75 seconds = 7.31 MB/sec

machine 2 , HDD MASTOR
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 2.27 seconds = 56.39 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 2.85 seconds = 22.46 MB/sec

Note that HDD MASTOR (machine #2) seems faster than FUJITSU (machine #1)
without cache, this is about test directly upon HDD AND I think that this
is correct the hard is very superior !!!

NEVERTHELESS, machine #2 seems more faster than other, just see the test
with cache !!!
and the test using cache is more closer to the real performance of the
system . . . SO?

ANY CLUE???
I'll appreciate any help , or any benchmark about it.

THANK , and excume for my bad english, just I'm from cuba ......
