Thanks Mike, I've created the /etc/lib/rpm dir and put your rpmrc in it
but now what I'm getting when trying rpm --rebuilddb is a whole bunch of
lines reading:

error: unrecognized db option: "db3" ignored.

What do yuo think I should do? Uninstall rpm? I tried rpm -e rpm but
that isn't the package name.

Weird and frustrating!
