The website Slashdot is a popular techie site. It is in fact so popular that 
when news is posted there it usually will swamp the server that the link goes 
to.  Hence the term slashdotted has come to mean that you have had your web 
server/site swamped because you just got a huge number of hits from a news 
link on Slashdot.
