None of the messages discussed appears to be directly related to the
network not coming up. all is good right now so I will dig into it if
it happens again.

Digging around more with the rpm install time and going back into
archived logs and running various programs shows that the

Jan 18 09:56:59 bretsony kernel: NET: 6 messages suppressed.

log entries are caused by win4lin. They only occur when I start win98
as a linux app.

Not a problem for this list. I will contact NetTraverse.

the usb messages like:

Jan 18 09:52:36 bretsony kernel: usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 3, frame#
548

only occur when I have the usb mouse connected and set up in X.
Apparently this has been happening since I first started connecting to
the port replicator (where the mouse is attached) Actually I have not
tested this withot X running I will do so.

I can't seem to make it happen by moving the mouse around or clicking it
just happens.

It does not seem to be a real problem, just taking up space in my logs.

any ideas?

Bret
