Hello Gabriel,

I don't know if your having the same problem I was having, but there's
something about the USERID (AUTH) setting for resolving the IP addresses to
host names feature that is typically used for logging purposes. I think it
has something to do with this name resolution thing and one of my ipchains
firewalls. The solution for me was to comment out the lines in my cvspserver
and wu-ftp configuration files for xinetd. But then I'm using xinetd and
although it's a little different the issue might be the same.

Hope this helps!

Rob

Subject: suprise lag

heya people,
i'm running rh6.2 on a sun box here @work and for the last month or so,
it's been running beautifully, but just in the past few hours, the ftp
access on it has suddenly introduced a LONG wait time until you can
finally log in. every ftp app i try just waits "connecting..." until i
finally do get in.

i tried restarting inetd
then i tried rebooting the entire machine

no change

this is entirely spontaneous
any ideas as to how this happened and how i might fix it?
what logs should i look at?

rh6.2
sparc64
proftpd 1.24

thanks for any help out there
