wu-ftpd logs transfers in xferlog. Samba logs connections, but not file
manipulation. Look in /var/log/samba/.

Service start/stop actions are logged in /var/log/messages. Patches and
software installs are not logged as such. But you can use the output of
'rpm -qa' to see what RPMs are installed. Most other executable programs
are installed into /usr/local/bin or /usr/local/sbin.
